Welcome to the On-board Systems Lab

We are currently experiencing two very exciting transformations in vehicle technology. On the one hand, the combustion engine is increasingly being replaced by electric drives, and on the other, highly automated driving is within reach. Electric and information technology thus dominate most modern vehicle developments.

As a result, the importance of power supply and communication architectures and thus the requirements for their functionality, safety and reliability are also increasing considerably. The research area Onboard Systems investigates and develops methods to meet these requirements in the future. The focus is on simulation and measurement methods for optimizing and safeguarding individual automotive electronic components as well as complete on-board networks.

Often in cooperation with industry and other research institutions, the following topics are addressed:

  • Optimization of on-board power networks and power supply systems
  • Signal integrity in on-board communication networks
  • Integrated concepts for power and data transmission (PLC, etc.)
  • Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC)
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Active negative feedback of electromagnetic disturbances
